Obituary for Stephanie Nicole Hunt

Stephanie Nicole Hunt, 39, resident of the Beaverton community, died Saturday evening, July 20, 2019, at her home.

STEPHANIE NICOLE HUNT was born August 17, 1979 in Portland, Oregon, the daughter of William Francis Gavin and Zudora Dorthey “Dotty” (Coombs) Gavin. She was raised and received her education in the Beaverton community, having been a graduate of the Sunset High School Class of 1998. Upon her high school graduation, she attended Portland Community College, having received her degree in business administration. Stephanie than attended UNCP, where she was working on her bachelor’s degree in business administration.

She had resided in Pembroke, North Carolina for ten years, until returning to the Beaverton community in 2017, where she had resided since.

While living in the Pembroke community, Stephanie had worked as an executive assistant for the transportation office at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. Since returning to the Beaverton community, she worked for Rosendin Electric, Inc. in Hillsboro, as an executive assistant for the two years.

Stephanie had been a member of the St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Beaverton. While attending Sunset High School, she was a member of the Marching Band (SAMBA), where she found her passion for colorguard. She then went on to perform with the Northern Lights Marching Band in Portland, the Every-Body Winter Guard in Portland and the Spirit of Atlanta Drum Corp. Stephanie also taught several groups including West Baden High School in Bladensboro, North Carolina.

Among her special interests, she enjoyed participating in marching bands and color guards. She also had a special love for spending time with her children.

Survivors include her parents, Bill and Dotty Gavin, of Beaverton, Oregon; her two children, Trevor Davis Hunt and Hayley Nicole Hunt, both of Beaverton, Oregon; her grandparents, Francis and Gladys Gavin, of King City, Oregon; her two brothers, Nathaniel Gavin and Jonathan Gavin, both of Beaverton, Oregon and her two sisters and a brother-in-law, Rachel Gavin and Heather and Marcos Reyes, all of Beaverton, Oregon.

Also surviving are several aunts, uncles and cousins.

The family suggests that remembrances may be contributions to Michelle’s Love, providing for single parents undergoing cancer treatment, P.O. Box 544, Scappoose, Oregon 97056, ( or to the Dream Foundation, 1528 Chapala Street, Suite 304, Santa Barbara, California 93101 (, in her, memory.
