Obituary for Sharon L. Zimmel

SHARON LAVONNE ZIMMEL, 68, resident of the Forest Grove community, died Monday afternoon, April 15, 2019, at her home in Forest Grove.

Private Cremation Rites were held at the Hoyt Crematory in Forest Grove.

SHARON LAVONNE ZIMMEL was born January 15, 1951 in Parsons, Kansas, the daughter of the late John Joseph Sevart and Katherine Lavonne (Ryan) Sevart. She was raised and received her education in the Shaw, Oregon community, having been a graduate of the Cascade Union High School Class of 1969.

She was united in marriage to Robert Lawrence Zimmel on July 18, 2009 in Forest Grove. They had celebrated their 8th Wedding Anniversary before Robert’s passing in 2017. Following their marriage they resided in the Forest Grove community.

Sharon worked as a caregiver in the healthcare industry for many years.

She was a member of the Evergreen Christian Center in Hillsboro, Oregon.

Among her special interests, she enjoyed singing and gardening.

Sharon was preceded in death by her mother, Katherine Sevart, by her father and step-mother, John and Geneva Sevart, by her brother, John Sevart, and sister, Renita Blair.

Survivors include her sisters and brothers-in-law, Carolyn and Robert Irwin, of Kearney, Missouri, Joan Thomas of Edenton, North Carolina, Lurene and Roy Leamen, of Emmitt, Idaho.

Also surviving are her aunt and uncle, Doris and Bob Harper, Molalla, Oregon, nephew, DJ Fehlen (Sarah) and great niece Jazmyne Sevart of Vancouver, Washington, nephew Sean Blair, of Puyallup, Washington, niece Amber Monnette of Vancouver, Washington, niece Jan Overstreet, and nephews Jeff, Jason and Jared Irwin all of the Kansas City, Missouri, area as well as several great nieces and nephews.

Her step-son, Rob Zimmel (Kristine) of West Richland, Washington, and step-daughter, Rebecca Hamilton (Jonathan) of Mustang, Oklahoma, five step-grandchildren, Andrew, Anna, and Matthew Zimmel, and Destiny and Mitchell Hamilton also survive.

The family suggests remembrances may be contributions to the Legacy Hospice, 2275 NE McDaniel Lane, McMinnville, Oregon 97128; or to Evergreen Christian Center, 4400 NW Glencoe Road, Hillsboro, Oregon 97124.
