Obituary for Robert "Keith" Terhune Jr.

After a long illness, Robert “Keith” Terhune, Jr., 72, died Friday evening, August 30, 2019 at his home in Hillsboro, Oregon surrounded by his family.

Keith was born January 19, 1947 in Portland, Oregon, the son of the late Robert Keith Terhune, Sr. and Dorothy "Dottie" Terhune. He was raised and received his education in Portland and graduated from Franklin High School in 1965. He attended Portland State University.

He was a Veteran of the Vietnam era, having joined the United States Navy in April 1965. Keith served for four years as a Corpsman, the last two years in San Diego, until receiving his honorable discharge in August 1969 at the rank E-4. Keith earned the National Defense Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart.

Keith was united in marriage to Dolores "Dee" Arlene David on August 3, 1966 in Portland, Oregon. They celebrated their 53rd Wedding Anniversary this past August. Following their marriage they resided in San Diego for two years. Following his discharge, they returned to Portland before moving to Wilsonville. They resided in Wilsonville until 2002 when they moved to Hillsboro.

He had worked in the finance industry for many years until he retired at the age of sixty-five. Keith enjoyed traveling, cruising, and visiting Hawaii. He enjoyed playing golf and bowling.

Survivors include his wife, Dee Terhune, Hillsboro, Oregon; his son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Kelli Terhune, of Portland, Oregon; his daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Vince Welter, of Forest Grove, Oregon; and his sister and brother-in-law, Ginger and Karl Douglas, of Canby, Oregon.

Also surviving are his five grandchildren, Alli and Zach Monty, of Columbia, Maryland; Andrew Terhune, of Portland, Oregon; Alyssa Welter, of Monmouth, Oregon; Carson Welter, of Forest Grove, Oregon; and Maddy Terhune, of Portland, Oregon; his sister and brother-in-laws, Pat and Steve Finnegan, of Hillsboro, Oregon; Jeryl Whipple, of Hillsboro, Oregon; and Bev and Marshal Read, of Portland, Oregon; his five nieces and nephews, Katie Whipple, Cindy Milner, Erika Crutchfield, Becci Ryan and Gene Powell; his great-nephew, Colby Milner and his great-niece, Abby Jae Crutchfield. He is also survived by his Aunt Jean and Lyle Ballew of Merlin, Oregon.
