Obituary for Anita Matteson

Anita L. Matteson, 78, member of the Salem community, died Monday morning, July 15, 2019, at Chahalem Health and Rehab Center in Newberg.

Private Cremation Rites were held at the Hoyt Crematory in Forest Grove.

ANITA LOUISA MATTESON was born March 1, 1941 in Tillamook, Oregon the daughter of the late Norman T. Reddekopp, Sr. and Ellen L. (Colvin) Reddekopp. She was raised and received her education in Cloverdale, Oregon, having been a graduate of the Nestucca High School Class of 1959. She attended Chemeketa Community college in Salem, where she received her associate degree in business.

She was united in marriage to Loran C. Matteson on October 20, 1980 in Reno, Nevada. They celebrated their 38th Anniversary this past October.

Following their marriage, they made their home in the Salem community, where they have resided since. Anita worked for Mountain Fir Lumber Company in in Independence, Oregon, for several years. She then went work for Freres Bros. Lumber Company in Lyons, Oregon, where she worked as the trucking office manager for many years, until she retired at the age of sixty-five years old.

She and her husband were members of the Bent 8 Car Club.

Among her special interests, were traveling, photography and her great grandchildren.

Anita was preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Ellen Reddekopp; her daughter, Tami Eggman and her two brothers, Gene Reddekopp and Norman Reddekopp, Jr.

Survivors include her husband, Loran Matteson, of Newberg, Oregon; her son, Thomas Nye, of Eugene, Oregon and her sister and brother-in-law, Cathie and Terry Barth, of Hillsboro, Oregon, her Mother-in-law Mardella Matteson,brother and sister-in-law Ron and Lynne Orvik, all of Benson,Minnesota.

Also surviving are her two grandchildren, David Eggman and Jerad Eggiman, both of Newport, Oregon; her three great grandchildren, Josephine, Gracie and Cayden and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
