Obituary for Allen R. Judah

Allen “Al” Roscoe Judah, 93, a resident of the Hillsboro community, died Sunday, September 1, 2019 at the Cornell Estates in Hillsboro.

Private Cremation Rites were held at the Hoyt Crematory in Forest Grove.

ALLEN “Al” ROSCOE JUDAH was born April 8th, 1926 in Circleville, Kansas, the son of the late Perry Judah and Dorothea (Johnson) Judah. He was raised and received his education in the communities of Wetmore, Kansas and Hillsboro, Oregon, having been a graduate of the Hillsboro High School Class of 1944. He later attended Carroll College in Helena, Montana. Al Served in the United States Navy from 1944 – 1946.

He was united in marriage to Arlene Ella McCann on December 26, 2009 in Phoenix, Arizona. They celebrated their 9th Wedding Anniversary this past December. They enjoyed travelling together, spending time in Arizona and California. They also enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Following their marriage, they resided in the Hillsboro community, where they have resided since.

Al worked for Mayflower Dairy as a delivery driver, Davidson’s Sunbeam Bakery as the Sales Manager, and he owned and operated a Burgerville, in Hillsboro, for many years.

He was also a member of the Hillsboro City Council, the City Library Council, and a number of other city and community volunteer positions. He was a member of Old Scotch Church, as well as serving in the Masons for 65 years.

During his high school years, he was an All-League Football Guard at Hillsboro High School, and later in life he enjoyed coaching baseball, playing golf, traveling, and most importantly spending time with his family.

Al was preceded in death by his parents, Perry and Dorothea Judah, by his first wife of 49 years, Evelyn Crowley, and by his second wife of 9 years, Bev Jossy, by his brothers Tom Judah, Sam Judah, Louie Judah, Perry Judah, and by his sister, Laura Kalkwarf.

Survivors include his wife, Arlene Judah, of Hillsboro, Oregon; his children and their spouses, David and Jeanne Judah, of Hillsboro, Oregon; Dick and Jan Judah, of Hillsboro, Oregon; Sandy Jordan, of Hillsboro, Oregon; Cheryl Schmidt, of Hillsboro, Oregon; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Mel and Zenith Judah, of Corvallis, Oregon; John and Lorraine Judah, of Hillsboro, Oregon.

Also surviving are his 6 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

The family suggests that in lieu of flowers donation be made to the Hillsboro Community Foundation in memory of Al Judah in support of Hillsboro Youth Sport Activities, PO Box 808, Hillsboro, Oregon 97123.
